Are yahoo confused by their own email?

I received what looked like a genuine email from Yahoo offering a gift for giving your yahoo ID, name address, and email address. I didn't fill it in, as I wasn't sure it was from Yahoo, so asked a question on Answers about it, and sent it to abuse@yahoo.com.

Then I saw the Yahoo blog in answers claiming it was genuine, so filled it in, and sent it off.

Then I get the reply from abuse@yahoo they say it wasn't sent by yahoo mail. I have rechecked it, it is exactly as mentioned in the yahoo blog.

Are yahoo confused by their own email?
Don't listen to the muppets who are are trying to scare you or are too thick to check the blog.

This is a genuine offer to celebrate the 1st Anniversary of Yahoo UK %26amp; Ireland Answers.

None of us is infallable so hence the reply from abuse@yahoo. They made a mistake.
Reply:To further confirm the gift offer, several weeks ago Yahoo actually asked a question on here about what gifts would we appreciate for taking part. Report It

Reply:this is typical of yahoo.they want to do too much and they cannot even organise a piss up in a brewery;they are just NO good
Reply:I got the same email but it arrived in my bulk folder, so I deleted it as spam, which is what you should do to any emails with a .com address (free email address) from people or companies you do not know.
Reply:You must be confused . You sent your information to some spam website and someone is Nigeria is probably stealing your ID as we speak.
Reply:Hi dear,

I dont think Yahoo will offer you a gift for giving your yahoo details. Such people who send you such emails can make the email look like exactly the same as if it was sent from Yahoo. I think you should check your system for spyware, virus etc. just in case. You should not reply to such emails also. Good luck friend.
Reply:Don't worry they are really dumb, especially the person above ^^^

Yes it is genuine and it is from Yahoo as it says on the blog, its just because you sent it to the abuse email address it probably sent you an automated reply.
Reply:Oh my!!!! Of course it wasn't sent by Yahoo!!! And you should have known that. Don't EVER give out personal information to someone telling you that you are a lottery winnter, or prize winner in an email. ALL things like that are scams. Hopefully you didn't give out your address or any credit card or bank account numbers. Good luck... I hope nothing bad comes of it. Chances are, when you see something to fill out with personal information from a scam like that, the website won't be a secure website. Secure website begin with "https". But even so.... prize winnings.. always a scam!!

Someone here blamed Yahoo. Yahoo had NOTHING to do with it... IT'S A SCAM!!!
