Yahoo! Avatars - why????

I see from my searches that many MANY people are perturbed with Yahoo's insistence that we all select from a juvenile assortment of illustrations to represent ourselves while using Yahoo mail (and other functions that I do not personally use). I'm an adult and have no interest in symbolizing myself as one of these stupid Bratz characters....I also don't wish to have a shaded figure in a box that continually prompts me to "create my avatar". I want to get rid of the WHOLE BOX... is there any way to tell Yahoo that I'm not interested in having an avatar, and there's no chance that I will in the future, and finally get rid of the intrusive icon on my Yahoo email desktop??? And, finally, why has Yahoo pursued this for so long with so much negative input from people like me???? Wake up, Yahoo!, I'll be switching to gmail soon if Yahoo continues to ignore grown-ups and insists on marketing to little kids with their sophomoric icons and time-wasting "games." (Thanks)

I'm an adult too, its really just your personal opinion, like you said many people like it.
Reply:More of us have an inner child than there are curmudgeons like yourself.

Don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.
Reply:i believe it's a small idiosyncrasy that they put up to attract a younger crowd. and you're right there should be something more geared towards adults here. the thing is you have to keep pestering them and get others the pester to get anything achieved
