Why yahoo! promotes IE7 while all reviews show that firefox 2 is by far superior?

I was stunned after I visited www.yahoo.com today and on the first page found this

While all experts agree that firefox2 is miles ahead in every single benchmark..





Why there is no link to upgrade to firefox2 ?





OK most PC users are ignorant of the alternative web browsers since microsoft uses its monopoly power to force its users to use its own browser but I would have expected from a well respected site such as yahoo! to inform to say the least its users of the alternative browsers. eg "Yahoo! recommends that you upgrade to the new, safer Internet Explorer 7 optimized for Yahoo!, or to the even safer firefox2 browser."

Why yahoo! promotes IE7 while all reviews show that firefox 2 is by far superior?
Microsoft has money, they pay yahoo to advertise and support their product, capitalism at its best.

Reply:The problem is that Firefox 2 doesn't work on all web sites, there are several I use where I get better functionality from Opera.
Reply:I have both Firefox and Internet Explorer on my computer. I only use IE if I need to go on the microsoft website to get an operating system update. (Microsoft's site cannot be opened by Firefox.) With I.E. I used to get spyware several times daily. With Firefox there ain't no spyware. It's also quicker, better and more diversified.





In other words, I agree with the Asker. WTF??
